Take action against the five diseases that are the leading cause of deaths by testing for symptoms before they appear. Heart attack, stroke, degenerative brain disease, cancer and osteoporosis scans are available.
Smart Heart and Health, the preventive imaging division of Medical Imaging, develops customized preventive imaging scans based on your family and lifestyle history.
Our non-invasive procedures detect the first signs of disease before the onset of symptoms – this could save your life and ensure an immediate guide to treatment.
The following imaging procedures are available on their own or as part of a customized programme.
- Calcium score – a CT scan that quantifies the amount of calcium (hard plaque) in the walls of the coronary arteries, identifying the risk of heart disease.
- A CT coronary angiogram – to detect the life threatening soft plaque.
- A CT scan of the chest, abdomen and pelvis to detect many high risk abnormalities, such as lung cancer, aortic aneurysms and kidney and liver tumors, as well as gall stones, prostate and ovarian tumors.
- The Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (Dexa) scan allows for the early diagnosis of osteoporosis (bone loss) and possible fractures associated with the disease.
- Pelvic ultrasound – detects pelvic masses, ovarian cysts, fibroids, infections, ovarian and uterine cancer.
- MRI and PET of the brain - rules out brain degenerative diseases, such as Alzheimers and multi-infract dementia.
- Virtual Colonoscopy - detects colon cancer and polyps.
- Low-dose lung scan - ideal for those with a history of smoking to be used as part of a yearly screening programme.
- MR angiogram (MRI) of neurovascular circulation – for stroke prevention.
For those younger than 40 who are concerned about unnecessary exposure to radiation, Smart Heart and Health offers two specialized scans.
