3D Digital Mammography

  • Involves low dose radiation that can detect cancer at an early stage ensuring treatment is more effective and survival more likely.
  • Can detect 80-90% of breast cancers in women without symptoms.
  • Digital mammography allows radiologists to manipulate the images, leading to superior interpretation and more accurate diagnosis.

Screening and Diagnostic Breast Ultrasound

  • Ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to visualize the breast and is used to evaluate abnormalities, such as cysts and solid masses, which are found during a mammogram or physical exam.
  • Breast Ultrasound is also used in conjunction with mammography for patients who are asymptomatic but have dense breast tissue.
  • Used for symptomatic patients who are under the age of 30 year, and pregnant patients.

Screening and Diagnostic Breast MRI (Siemens 3T Open)

  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) of the breast is the ultimate supplementary screening and diagnostic tool.
  • It is an ideal option involving no radiation for women with a family or personal history of breast or ovarian cancer.
  • Breast MRI can also be used to screen for cancer in women who have silicone granulomas and those with Breast implants to determine the integrity of the implants.
  • When used in conjunction with mammography and Ultrasound it is effective in detecting and staging breast cancer cases not detected through other means.

Breast Core Biopsies

  • An Image guided core biopsy allows the radiologist to sample the tissue in your breast without surgery. The radiologist will remove samples of breast tissue using a special core needle. These tissue samples are sent to the pathology lab for diagnosis. The results arrive within 2-3 working days after your biopsy.

DEXA, HSG, Sonohysterograms

  • The Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (Dexa) scan allows for the early diagnosis of osteoporosis (bone loss) and possible fractures associated with the disease.
